From August 7 to 9, a free performance workshop titled "Pseudo-Archaeological Translation" will be held for migrant women at Theater Mitte Berlin, hosted by the Salad Theater Company. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to translate the personal narratives of migrant women through the artistic lens, focusing on the diary of Tran Tan Lan, a Vietnamese migrant woman who passed away after marrying into a Korean family.
The workshop aims to creatively interpret Tran Tan Lan’s diary into personal stories of the participants, allowing them to explore their own narratives. Under the guidance of Yuko Kaseki, a Butoh dancer and contemporary dance choreographer, and Park Kyong Ju, a multidisciplinary artist and voice sculptor, the participants will engage in the process of embodying another person’s story and articulating it through their own bodies. This immersive experience will help deepen the participants' connection to the themes of migration, identity, and personal transformation.
On the final day of the workshop, an internal showcase will be held, where participants will present their creative results on stage. The performance will serve as a powerful space for solidarity and friendship among migrant women, fostering a sense of community and cross-border connections.
This workshop promises to be a significant moment of cultural exchange, offering an artistic platform for immigrant women to express their unique experiences while honoring the legacy of those who have gone before them.
